i can relate to that. While my parents are very over protective, they were against the idea of keeping their kids quite. They always encouraged us to speak our mind.

Haha! I guess we all had this same upbringing complex- "o3do hadyeen.. 3eib!" Bas you know what, I'll probably do the same thing. I always look in horror at the kids that run around in the mall almost toppling people over and think "Shu hal nawraneh, wein ahelhom idoboohom!"

Linda this has NOTHING to do with speaking your mind.

Roba, actually it is the same thing. Allowing your child to be a child, meaning having them run around, play and be a kid, means you willallow them to grow up to be a strong opinionated person ;)

I know its not connected directly roba, but it also reminds me of how some Jordanians do not allow their older children to speak in front of gatherings or other people. Its aib, only the adults should talk. Well, my parents didnt buy that so we spoke up. Thats all I was saying.

its one thing to allow your child to run wild in inappropriate places, like the mall, but let them be kids.

Yeah, I agree that it's stupid that some parents don't let their kids speak up.. which is why you'll be shocked to see how a lot of Arab really have no idea how to public speak etc etc. but that has a lot to do with schools.. you have no idea how depressing the curriculum here for schools is :\
